Breast Augmentation
The breast is a sign of femininity and motherhood for women, and it is one of the most essential identifications that provide them with beauty and self-confidence. It helps to make a significant change in the image of the body in completing the sexual identity in adolescence, but the breast may not reach the appropriate size that is suitable for a woman's body for genetic or hormonal reasons or for other reasons, which may lead to psychological issues. Breast augmentation surgery is quite beneficial to ladies in these situations.
Cases that require breast augmentation:
- Breast sagging downward due to the decrease in the size of the breast and the loose of the connective tissues with time.
- Correcting women's body disparities, particularly in the hip and breast areas, among women who think their breasts are small.
- Breast sagging caused by fast breast enlargement during pregnancy and lactation, as well as loss of fatty tissue in a small breast after its enlargement during pregnancy and lactation.
- Various situations that need the re-formation of the nipple, such as (reshaping the nipple after breast cancer surgery or in the case of childbirth without a nipple).
- Asymmetry between the breasts (one is small and the other is large).
- The breast does not reach the appropriate size despite the completion of body growth.
Maximum and Minimum Age for Breast Augmentation Surgery:
Any woman can have breast augmentation surgery after the completion of the breast tissue growth stage, which occurs around the age of 18, as long as she does not have a health concern that prevents her from doing the surgery. There is no such thing as an upper age restriction for breast augmentation; any woman, whose health condition permits, can benefit from this operation. However, women over the age of 40, should have health tests and analyses such as a breast radiography performed prior to the surgery.
Techniques Used in Breast Augmentation Surgery:
The degree of breast augmentation is determined by the patient's desire, current breast shape, and the woman's body and breast sizes.
Breast implants alone are insufficient to correct sagging, droopy and small breasts; a breast lift operation (Mastopexy) must be performed in addition to breast augmentation.
The three main methods used in breast augmentation are:
Silicone breast implants.
Fat transfer breast augmentation.
Using injectable fillers.
Silicone Breast Implants.
Silicone breast implants are the most common type of implant used in breast augmentation surgery, and they provide amazing and long-lasting results.
Most women have turned to other methods and techniques for breast augmentation because they believe that silicone implants are unsafe for their health.
In addition, some of the other methods used, such as creams, gels, and massages, are ineffective and, in most situations, may be harmful since they contain chemicals.
Silicone breast implants are categorized into three sections based on their shape, content, and surface texture.
1 - According to Shape

- Round implants:
When the round implant, in the form of semi-circle, is inserted in the breast, it fills the upper part of the breast. Round implants are more likely to be used for women with insufficient tissue in the upper breast.
Teardrop implants:
he teardrop implant is named for its shape, which is similar to that of a teardrop. Its shape is quite similar to that of a natural breast, and it fills the lower part of the breast when inserted. A teardrop implant, on the other hand, is not recommended for women who don't have sufficient tissue in the upper part of the breast.
The doctor will test the type of implant that is best for the woman after taking the necessary measurements.
2 -According to content
- Silicone-contained implants.
- Saline-contained implants.
Silicone implants are divided in terms of content into two types: implants contain silicone and implants contain saline, but both types are covered with a silicone layer.
3 - According to the surface texture
- Smooth breast implants.
- Textured breast implants.
When looking at the surface texture of silicone implants, we see that they are divided into two types, smooth and textured.
Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation
It is a technique for breast augmentation that involves taking fat from certain areas of the body, such as the buttocks, thighs, or sides of the abdomen, passing it through special devices to purify and clean it, and then injecting it into the breast in a simple and easy way without the need for any incisions or surgery.
This method is used to increase the size of breasts by a little amount.
It is also possible to use hyaluronic acid, which is commonly used in implants, but only in small amounts due to the risk of a reactions when using it.
Before Breast Augmentation
The woman and the doctor must discuss all of the woman's desires with the doctor before making a common decision. As a result, the initial physical examination is essential.
According to the nature of the skin, the woman's age, and her body, the doctor selects the appropriate technique to be used.
Women can have breast augmentation after the completion of body growth at the age of 18. If the woman is over 40 years old, she must have a breast radiography and ultrasound done before the surgery, and the results must be evaluated by the doctor.
The woman must inform the doctor with all the medications she takes, and if required, these medications must be stopped before the surgery.
If the woman smokes, she must stop smoking three weeks before the surgery, and she should stop smoking three months before the surgery in order for the wound to heal faster and for a more comfortable recovery period.
Breast augmentation is not allowed for the woman who has recently given birth until approximately 9 months after the end of the breastfeeding period.
There will be scars in the area where the implant is placed. These scars fade to almost invisible after about a year.
