Breast Lift Without Implants (Mastopexy)

Sagging breasts are a major concern for married and single women equally, with many preferring for breast lift surgery to achieve a tight and attractive breast. The look of a woman's breasts is one of the most essential features of her body, since it contributes to her overall attractiveness.
  • Weight Loss

Significant weight loss, regardless of the way used to lose it - whether by exercising, dieting, or stomach reduction surgeries - causes the breast skin to become larger than the breast gland, causing the nipple to fall, the skin to droop, and the breast to appear saggy as if it is old-aged.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Alternating pregnancy and breastfeeding leads to hormonal changes and a change in the size of the breast, which increases and decreases, and then the skin droop and the nipple sags and falls down.
  • Aging

Female hormone levels decrease with age, causing breast reduction and sagging.
  • Gravity

Gravity causes the breasts to sag, especially if they are heavy.

What happens during a visit to the doctor?

The doctor discusses many things with you before performing a breast examination and measuring their size in both standing and sitting positions.
The doctor will discuss the factors that might impact the effectiveness of the breast lift surgery with you, such as your age, breast shape and size, as well as whether or not a breast implant is necessary.
During that visit, all aspects of the surgery, such as anesthesia, the surgery's results, and the scars left behind, will be discussed. The doctor will explain all aspects of the procedure with you, so don't hesitate to ask questions.

Breast lift surgery steps

A few days before surgery, the patient is examined and specific tests and x-rays of the breast are performed.
Breast lift surgery is performed in a hospital or a specialized medical-surgical center, so this site must be chosen carefully.
Commonly it is necessary to stay in the hospital for a period of at least 1 day, and it may extend to 3 days, this is determined according to the patient’s condition, and after leaving the hospital, the patient must be committed to relax as much as possible for a period ranging from 7 to 10 days.
Depending on the case, this surgery might take between 1 to 5 hours to complete.
Before the surgery, the doctor determines and draws certain marks on the breast that describe the places of the surgery; it also specifies the incision locations. He often makes a half-line longitudinally in the middle of the breast, in the examination room, while some doctors prefer to do it in the operating room.
The doctor removes excess skin from the breast, then adjust its shape and the nipple location.
The doctor inserts two surgical drainage tubes under the skin of the breasts. A drainage tube is inserted for each breast at the incision. This tube drains any remaining blood or fluids that may have accumulated beneath the skin, allowing the incision to heal faster.
The doctor next closes the skin using cosmetic surgical stitches, which may not need to be removed.
The doctor then uses adhesive medical tapes to close the incision, which is then covered with a compression medical corset, that is worn for one to two weeks depending on the situation and is not removed.
Prevent water from reaching the incision by keeping it entirely dry when showering.
The doctor's instructions for incision care, as well as the medications prescribed, are reviewed.
The drainage tube is removed after the breast lift surgery in a period ranging from 3 to 7 days, and the stitches are removed in a period ranging from 7 to 15 days, depending on the patient's condition in terms of wound healing speed, the status of the skin and the method of skin healing.

Breast Lift Postoperative Care

A medical bra or an elastic bandage should be put over the gauze bandages to preserve the breast lift.
After surgery, one should expect bruises on the breast, as well as a little bleeding at the bottom of the skin and a feeling of bloating and discomfort, but these symptoms are small, and the doctor will most likely prescribe medications to relieve the discomfort, which can last between one to two days.
After several days, instead of bandages or a surgical bra, the doctor prescribes a supportive and soft bra, which must be worn everyday and during the day for a period of 4 to 6 weeks.
If your breast is very dry after surgery, you can use a special body cream and apply it to your breast several times throughout the day, but be careful not to press on the breast or the skin, or try to reach the stitch line, as these materials must be kept away from the stitches, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
Due to the stretching of the skin after surgery and swelling, there may be some loss of feeling in the nipples and breast skin after the breast lift surgery, but this feeling fades gradually with the disappearance of the swelling, which is usually after 6 weeks, though it may take a little longer in some cases.
Because healing is done gradually, patients can get out of bed a day after their breast lift surgery, but they should avoid working for the first 7 to 10 days. In addition to avoiding physical effort for the first 4 weeks,
you should avoid carrying heavy objects in your hand or over your head for a period of 3 to 4 weeks.
